YouTube is Lowering it Monetization Eligibility Requirements to 500 Subscribers

YouTube, a Google-owned video sharing platform is bringing down it monetization’s eligibility requirements to 500 subscribers and 3000 watch hours for creator to make money through their Contents.

Furthermore, YouTube is also expanding its shopping affiliate program to U.S.-based creators who are part of YouTube Partnership Program (YPP) and have more than 20,000 subscribers.

Previously, YPP eligibility requirements are 1000 subscribers and either 4,000 watch hours in the past year, or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Now, the Google-owned video sharing platform has announced new conditions to be eligible for the partner program are, and they are:

  1. Having 500 subscribers;
  2. 3 public uploads in the last 90 days;
  3. and either 3,000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Hence, any content creators that meets the new eligibility criteria will be able to apply and take part in the YouTube Partnership Program (YPP) and get access to tipping tools like Super Thanks, Super Chat, and Super Stickers, subscription tools like channel memberships, and the ability to promote their own merch with YouTube Shopping.

However, according to a report by Techcrunch, this new conditions are applicable content creators in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. It will later roll it out to other countries where YPP is available e.g, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa.
